As a proud Kirrae, Peek and Tjab Whurrong person of the Gunditjmara nation in south-west Victoria, Jason Mifsud developed a strong sense of purpose from a very early age.
Through his parents, and community Elders, he grew up understanding the importance of role models, setting goals, and a can-do attitude matched with a strong work ethic.
Sadly, this is not the experience for many Indigenous Australians.
Jason’s career has been underpinned by fearless leadership and tireless advocacy and negotiation of social justice outcomes, Indigenous rights, and reconciliation.
He is driven to ensure that Indigenous people get a fair go and deserve a fair go, an equal go. That the principle of self-determination is a realistic goal, and that Indigenous people can see themselves in the world of business, making a real difference to their own lives, the lives of their families and the community more broadly.
Jason’s totem is the black cockatoo which represents the strengthening of spirit, of energy, of empowerment, and of happiness.
These are the values that Jason lives by, and are the values that are embedded throughout the Alpha Indigenous Group.
Born as the first child of Greek immigrants who migrated to Australia in 1954, Kon Karnezis established himself as a dedicated and hardworking business entrepreneur from an early age.
His parents docked at Port Melbourne after 35 days at sea and were taken to the Bonogila immigration camp. As the eldest child, Kon matured into a role model for his family and wider community.
Overcoming many obstacles and challenges in life, Kon deeply understands how the personal development and self-growth of an individual can change an entire community.
He’s committed to developing this as the driving force behind Alpha Facilities Group, which he founded over 20 years ago while in the cleaning and chemicals industry.
A former AFL athlete, Patrick Karnezis honed his self-determination to achieve his sporting goals. He’s developed this with his involvement in the sporting business world, and has earned a great reputation in the industry.
Patrick completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioural Studies to pave his way into the business world. Throughout his work, Patrick continues to prioritise multiculturalism, diversity, and community engagement.
